UK Child Visitor

The child visitor category is for children aged under 18 years old who want to come to the UK for up to 6 months (or up to 12 months if they are accompanying an academic visitor). This includes children who want to study in the UK for up to 6 months.

If a child wants to study here for more than 6 months, they must apply under Tier 4 (Child) .

To qualify for a Child visitor visa applicants

  • must be under 18 years of age
  • must intend to visit the UK for no more than 6 months (or 12 months if you will be accompanying an academic visitor)
  • must intend to leave the UK at the end of their visit
  • must be supported and accommodated by relatives or friends
  • must have had suitable arrangements made for their travel to, and their reception and care in, the UK
  • must have a parent or guardian in their home country who is responsible for their care, and will provide their address, and their landline phone number

Unaccompanied child visitors will be required to provide written consent from their parent/s or guardian/s for the travel and evidence of their care arrangements while in the UK.

Accompanied child visitors must nominate an adult that will travel with them to the UK.
