UK Business Visitor Visa

UK Business visitor visas allow many international people to conduct a range of business activities in the UK for a short period.

You may be able to come to the UK as a business visitor if you are one of the following and over 18 years of age:

  • Film crew on a location shoot and employed or paid by an overseas company or programme.
  • Media representative employed or paid by an overseas company gathering information for an overseas publication.
  • Academic visitor either on sabbatical leave carrying out research in the UK, on an exchange programme or an eminent senior doctor or dentist coming to take part in research, teaching or clinical practice.
  • Visiting professor accompanying students on a study abroad programme
  • Religious worker based abroad attending a conference or undertaking some preaching or pastoral work during the visit.
  • Adviser, consultant, trainer or trouble shooter employed by an overseas company.
  • Secondee from an overseas company
  • Doctor undertaking a clinical attachment, or dentist undertaking a clinical observer post. No patient treatment or payment can take place.
  • Graduate Doctor taking the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) test in the UK

You can also apply to come to the UK as a business visitor if you intend to carry out certain 'permitted activities' for example:

  • attending meetings, conferences or fact-finding missions
  • arranging deals, or negotiating or signing trade agreements or contracts;
  • delivering goods and passengers from abroad (as a lorry driver or coach driver, for example, provided you are genuinely working an international route);
  • representing a foreign manufacturer providing work under guarantee, installation, service, etc.

All applicants must to demonstrate that they will receive their salary (if any) from abroad while in the UK.
